GHETTOGLOSS OPENS A STORE AND PROMOTES IT WITH A PARKING LOT RUNWAY FASHION SHOW BY CYRUS & SONNY THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT 9PM SHARP!! COME HAVE SOME COCKTAILS..ON US!

A love sprung at age seventeen between two artful souls, Cyrus and Sonny, in the infamous city of Los Angeles. Born out of famed families--Sonny from the notorious pop artist Ed Ruscha and Cyrus from the high-caliber actress Cybill Shepherd--they bring together Hollywood elite with sophisticated art masterminds. The two have joined in hand and heart to design a line of clothing fashioned by both the power of art and love.

Cyrus Zackariah Shepherd-Oppenheim and Sonny Ruscha Bjornson, attending high school, have been coupled for two years, a time of locked lips and sweet stares. The tingling of new love still in the air with a touch of a hand or brush of the hair. With open heart and mind, Cyrus and Sonny will present the fruit of their alliance together for the very first time, a runway show featuring their fashion line appropriately named Cyrus and Sonny. Their clothing can also be found in such stores as Fred Segal Street, Sweet Charity Boutique, Ghettogloss, and EM & Co.

To launch their new line, they chose the innovative Ghettogloss, who brought you the art of Tommy Chong and the original art of dogtown. With a new Ghettogloss store, owner Fiora thought it fitting to throw Cyrus and Sonny's first fashion gala at the hub of progressively urban art, Ghettogloss Gallery.

On January 28, 2006, the combined forces of young love, art and fashion bring you Cyrus and Sonny at Ghettogloss. A runway show and launch of their new line. Location: 2380 Glendale Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90039. Ground Level.

At this point, everybody with eyes (or ears) has seen (or heard about)
Ghettogloss. Rad, edgy visual exhibits, showcasing everything from bizarre
outsider-art paint attacks to full-scale rope-and-fabric sculpture
installations. But not everybody is yet aware of Ghettogloss. Rising role as
one of the LA underground's coolest sub-radar music headquarters.
About once a month they open the doors, dim the lights, and have a free, all-ages band
night, with all sorts of strange acts performing the sonic equivalent of the
crazy creativity adorning the walls around them. It's a total melting pot of
a scene, too, as experimental-punk kids, free-rap icons, and bedroom-folkies
happily share the floor-as-stage with one another, making for eclectic bills
and awesome crowds. So loiter in the Ghettogloss parking
lot if you want tofind out info on upcoming events. Or be normal and check their website,

Adam Parfrey and The Feral House Archives Exhibition

ADAM PARFREY AND GHETTOGLOSS will be exhibiting a show different from
all others, the epic
unveiling of the Feral House archives. Over the years, Parfrey has come
across and stored away a massive
collection of occult artifacts and finally, with a little nudging from
longtime friend and owner of
Ghettogloss, Fiora, he has decided to open his treasure chest, blow the
dust off his collectibles, and make
them available for sale to the public. This is a rare moment in time to
obtain, or at least view, these
impressive antiquities, never before seen .

What started in 1989 to illustrate the hidden facts of cultural
anomalies is now the well-known publishing
icon, Feral House, founded and spearheaded by Adam Parfrey. Notorious
for unconformity, Parfrey
has published scores of books, ranging from The Satanic Witch in the
early days of Feral House to It’s a
Man’s World, a compilation of men’s adventure magazines, to The Hot
Girls of Weimar Berlin, each
informative with extensive facts as well as illustrated with obscure
artifacts and artwork.

Adam Parfrey is known as the man who dives into the forbidden and
explores every taboo corner he can
find, then with grinning pride, trumpets the newfound enlightenment. In
the process of doing this,
Parfrey has amassed strange and singular items, art or objects, genuine
to the era or culture
of twisted interest.

From a recent book Extreme Islam: Anti-American Propaganda of Muslim
Fundamentalism, propaganda
posters of Bin Laden are rolled up in Parfrey’s house. From It’s a
Man’s World, cover pages and interior
illustration from the old pulp magazines are stacked in a suitcase. He
has, in his closet, a collection of
what is known as “Sots Art” paintings, Russian art from the ‘70s and
‘80s satirically combining
Socialist icons such as Lenin or Stalin with American corporate
iconography such as McDonalds
or even Kotex. Stored away are illustrations used in the 1991 book,
Tortures and Torments of the
Christian Martyrs, by artists Daniel Clowes, Bill Ward, Peter Bagge,
Sarita Vendetta and others.
A portrait done and signed by Jack Kevorkian, “Dr. Death” himself, sits
by the rest just aching to be seen.

Needless to say, there is a plethora of collectibles, a variety of
endlessly intriguing realities, in the
form of art. It’s a fascinating conglomeration of work, some eccentric
and brilliant, some shockingly
real and maybe frightening. All of it, however, is powerful to
experience, the quintessence of
generally unknown culture.

With an unabashed disregard for conservatism Ghettogloss and Adam
Parfrey present the Feral House
Archives Exhibition, displaying the comprehensive aggregation of items
unique to Parfrey and Feral.
Opening Reception Saturday July 7, 2005 from 7pm to 11pm. The
collection is available to view through
Monday August 8, 2005.
